In April, Something New will send a team of heath care professionals to Peru. These volunteers are taking off from their busy schedules to offer medical care and public health assistance to local residents in need. Many in our path cannot afford basic healthcare, and others simply live too far away to access it. Our volunteers will help villagers in a remote Andean mountain town install hand-washing stations, which in turn reduces the risk of parasite infections. They will also meet one-on-one with each mom in our Nuevo Camino program for wellness exams, nutrition counseling and acupuncture treatments specialized for stress reduction. Clean the World already donated soap for the trip, and a local Fayette County ophthalmologist donated several pairs of prescription eyeglasses. Aside from financial donations, the team is also looking for donations of moisturizing eyedrops, Aquaphor ointment, two blood pressure cuffs, and two glucometers.
